I have hosted a series of skateboard painting workshops at Taidehalli in Helsinki, offering participants a unique blank canvas for artistic expression.
The core objective of these sessions was to embrace raw creativity by designing and painting the unconventional, curved surface of a skateboard deck. We began the process with hands-on preparation, teaching attendees how to sand down the mockup skateboards to expose the raw, natural wood grain. Once the surfaces were primed, participants fully customized the decks to their liking, using vibrant acrylics, paint pens, and custom stencils.
The attendees thoroughly enjoyed the absolute freedom of expression, resulting in an energetic atmosphere and a collection of stunning, personalized final pieces.
